Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (S.E.R.E.)

When that chute opens and the air rushes by
there's a feeling of excitement in a SERE blue sky
When the rock slides and passes me by
and the basket swings in a wind driven fly
I'm climbing high into a SERE blue sky

Walking far, far away
the Compass speaks and seems to say;
There's a path for you today
It's called a Survival pathway.
Follow that guide, he knows the way.
"Follow the SERE Sage Beret."

Our job is simple and complex too.
We teach them survival and life anew
We ride the waves and walk the trails,
hike the mountains, tell the tales

Faces of dirt, match hands that hurt
There's a wisdom in Natures untamed ways.
The kind that teaches us to proudly say
"Respect your value never give way"
"Press yourself and you'll win the day"

The Storms Of Life and Wars Horrendous Hurts
are but challenges to stay above the dirt
They rely on us from Ejection to Recovery
Our duty is to inform, teach with honor
and bring them home safely.

When the guns sound its too late
to learn how to correct the mistake
Learn to Return before the break
Nowhere to run, nowhere to turn
A POW suffers rope burn
Yet, his spirt flies on lofty wings
I have taught him such important things

And when they return and shake our hands
we know the results that we planned
Our job will be done when a daughter or son
returns from War or survives under a wilderness sun

Walking far, far away
the Compass speaks and seems to say;
There's a path for you today
It's called a Survival pathway.
Follow that guide, he knows the way.
"Follow the SERE Sage Beret."
