We stand the line in silence, without a word
Listening to the bugle as Taps is heard
We came to honor this Hero, to us completely unknown
He lost his life so far away, so far from his home.
He traveled with angels back to us, leaving combat behind
He did as he was told, following orders each time assigned.
Some he understood, others unknown, but he obeyed every day
In the performance of his duties he never swayed.
When the noise and smoke were at their worse and he drew upon his pride
His brothers all say he saved the day, fighting side by side.
Closer and closer the bullets came each time his courage began
And if he were here he would say; "'For them I'd do it again!"
We stand the line in silence, without a word
Listening to the bugle as Taps is heard
We came to honor this Hero, to us completely unknown
His family near, its the least we can do, now that he's home.
